Winnats Pass winter sunrise

We made it! Weโ€™ve survived yet another lockdown. We were very strict and didnโ€™t do much except for occasional walks in the local park. No sunrise or sunset photography in the Peaks, no meeting anyone. But hopefully we can put all of that behind us. Stefan has had his first dose of the controversial Astra Zeneca vaccine. With mild side effects. While waiting for his second dose, and given the restrictions have eased, we were finally able to go out. How to start better than with a fantastic Winnats Pass winter sunrise. In April!

We woke up at 4.45 on Sunday. With no idea what to expect. All we knew was that the weather app said it would be partly sunny. What a surprise it was when we got there that our Winnats Pass sunrise photography suddenly turned into Winnats Pass winter photography! Never had we thought weโ€™d be so lucky! I absolutely love winter in Peak District. So a winter sunrise here is a fantastic bonus!

We climbed the hill as fast as we could. Everything turned out to be amazing. The sky was fantastic, with a few wisps of clouds here and there. Perfect enough to offer a variety of colours. Even before the sun had shone its first rays above the hills, the sky was amazing. We captured a few landscapes and portraits, but soon enough, the light became too harsh so we packed up our things and left. Our next destination was Mam Tor, more specifically the bridleway towards Lord’s Seat. More of that in this article here

Looks amazing and as you say with the added bonus of snow such a perfect way to start geelong back to some sort of normality …. for want of a better word!

    1. Thank you Leslie. Indeed, we are looking forward to more normality in our lives. Been isolated for so long now. So much that we had missed all the snow since January. So we extremely excited for this one, even if it melted fast ๐Ÿ˜€
